Program Requirements:
=====================
Golf Solitaire requires an VGA card and monitor and a active mouse to run.
It runs in 640 X 480 X 16 VGA graphics mode and uses a mouse for all program
interaction. Golf Solitaire requires about 350K of free disk space and about
400K of free memory (RAM) to operate. The delay at the beginning of the
program is necessary to load all of the graphics that the program uses.
NOTE: Because of this programs disk access while loading the graphics files
(especially during the introduction) it is recommended that you run
it from a hard disk. This will drastically cut the delay at the
beginning of the program.
====================
Program Description:
====================
Golf Solitaire is a simple single player card game. It is simple to learn
and play, but very hard to win (there is a special winning song that is
played when the game is won, if sound is turned on). The playing board
consists of 7 stacks of 5 cards (all face up) across the top of the screen,
a face up card in the played pile in the middle of the screen and the other
16 cards face down in a draw pile at the bottom of the screen. The object
of the game is to play all of the cards from the stacks to the played pile.
Cards can be played in either assending or desending order or both (suit
doesn't matter) except nothing plays on a king. For example if the 4 of
clubs was the last card in the played pile you could then play either a 3
or a 5 of any suit on that card. And if, for example, you played a 5 then
you could then play another 4 or a 6 of any suit on the 5. Runs can go in
any direction and build back up from an ace (3 - 2 - A - 2 - A - 2 - 3, etc.)
but cannot build back down from a king, so once a king in played then no more
cards from the stacks can be played and you must draw another card from the
deck. Be careful because king can only be played on a queen.
The game ends when either all of the cards in the stacks have been played or
when all of the cards in the pile have been played and there are no more
cards in the stack that play. Golf Solitaire will automatically check for
either of these conditions and display messages accordingly. Golf Solitaire
also keeps track of the number of games you have won and how close you came
to winning in the losing games (example: 3 cards left, 10 cards left, etc.).
There is also a top 10 list for winning games that stores the winning names
by the number of cards left in their deck when they win.
Some of the features of Golf Solitaire include:
* Great HI-RES VGA graphics.

* Support for both Mouse and Keyboard input. Mouse users can just
click on the buttons or cards they want to use and keyboard users
just have to type the first letter of the command they want to use
(All yellow letters are "HOT KEY" commands).
* Great winning song. It was designed for the normal PC speaker but,
you will have to win a game to here what it sounds like.
* Undo Button. This function allows you to take back as many moves
as you wish, even all the way back to the beginning of the game. This
command also works after the end of a game except for winning hands.
* Restart button. This allows you to quickly restart the game without
and doesn't add your score to the total scores.
* About button. This displays a screen containing the credits for the
program and a rules button for further information on how to play
Golf Solitaire.
* Rules button. This button is on the About screen and displays the
rules and instructions for Golf Solitaire.
* Sound button. This button toggles the sound on and off. This
includes all of the beeps during program play and the song
played at the winning screen.
* Back button. This button display a list of 4 back for you to chose
from for your deck back picture.
* Quit button. This button will quit the game.
* Clear button. This button will clear all of the statistics in the
lower left hand corner of the screen.
* Top 10 button. This button will display the current top 10 list, if
any, and features an erase button to erase the top 10 file.
* Erase button. This button is located on the top 10 list and will
erase the top 10 file if pressed.
